2. HERCULES Commercial Air Freighter
Worlds most useful civilian propjet airlifter, Hercules
accommodates 88 in. by 118 in. containers. It also offers
straight in straight out rear loading for bulk or containerized
cargo. With its fuselage 180 in. longer than the original L-100
version, the current L-100-30 can handle palletized payloads up
to nearly 25 tons and brings jet age air delivery to remote,
undeveloped areas. It is powered by four Allison turboprop
engines. Present L-i00 series users include Pacific Western Ltd.
of Canada, Satco of Peru, Pakistan International, Safair of
Africa, the Philippines government and in the U.S., Delta,
Saturn Airways, Southern Air Transport, Alaska Airlines, Alaska
International (formerly Interior), and three leasing firms. |
