31. HOSPITAL PATIENT Monitor
Lockheed Aircraft Service Company's patient monitoring system,
already installed in hospitals in California, Midwest, and New
England, monitors five patients simultaneously. Any change from
present limits in patients' heart rates, regularity of beat, or
electrocardiogram contour operates an alarm that alerts hospital
personnel. |

WEATHER and OCEANOGRAPHIC Data Buoys
Four buoys - one of them 30 feet long - produced by Lockheed
Missiles & Space Company have helped the National Oceanographic
and Atmospheric Administration learn more about the ocean and
about weather at sea. The large buoy and two smaller ones were
moored in the Gulf of Mexico and radioed collected data to a
Florida shore station, The fourth was used in extensive
reliability testing. In company-funded programs, LMSC has built
and tested an Ecology Buoy to monitor pollution in inland waters
and worked on a drifting buoy to chart ocean currents, Lockheed
Ocean Laboratory in San Diego built and tested for NOAA a
comparative buoy to check the accuracy of operational buoys. |
